How to tell if your website is good for your business?

How do you know if your website is good for your business?
In answering to the first question: "Why do you have a website?"

If you are in business today you need a website. It may be only to provide a "search" presence – equivalent to a (nearly obsolete) phone book listing. But there is no doubt that without a website you do not have credibility as a current, active company. At a minimum, you need a site of a Web page that provides contact information and a summary of what you do or sell.

Where you go from there, terms of website development, depends on the rest of your answer to the question: "Why do you have a website?".

Some the most common reasons are:

  • To generate leads.
  • For sale.
  • To save on printing costs.
  • To provide support to customers.
  • To reduce telephone calls nuisance.
  • To qualify tracks.
  • Give or establish credentials.
  • To educate.
  • To satisfy your ego.

Leads
If the son of production is the first priority for your website, then Search Engine optimization should be your No. 1 factor when designing the dominant web site and content creation. You can not lead from a website who does not receive traffic, whatever the beauty of the design or how perfect your grammar.

Sales
Unlike First Impressions is not the same as, or even a necessary follow-up to the leads. Many companies will never be able to make a sale directly from their website. Some products or services that do not lend themselves to a service of "self" model. Similarly, you can not need to generate leads with this website – even if you make sales. You can be generating your leads to another manner and the handling of sales transactions online.

If you sell on your site site, then you should concentrate on making this experience the best it can be for your visitor. Each page, design, function, and all content is only there to help the sale.

Economy Printing
Catalogs, brochures, portfolios, instruction sheets, etc, can be very expensive to print and distribution. They also have the annoying habit of being out of date the moment they are printed. Your main reason for a website can save time and money by providing material (which would otherwise have been printed) to your visitors. If this is your priority and the organization of your website and the ease of locating and printing equipment will be the largest.

Customer Support
This can be as simple as providing driving instructions and hours at your place of business, and as complicated as an office support fully automated. Provide (at least part) the services to your customers 24 / 7, is a task that your website can be inexpensively by over the hiring of persons to be constantly available. To be effective, you must put yourself in the shoes of your customer and ask what are they want – you can easily provide – on your website? Better yet – ask your customers!

Nuisance Abatement
Provide customer support line (as above) may help reduce the number of calls your staff needs many fields. But it may your business is strictly wholesale – and currently receiving a large number of unwanted phone calls or emails from the public. If done correctly your site Web identifiable stronger wholesale only – or even better direct your annoyance leads to a society that wants them! You may even be able to work on a landmark deal for son to send you their way.

Qualify leads
Perhaps the challenge is not too little but brings too many leads that go nowhere. Your website could be put to work to qualify your leads for you. A questionnaire a test, or "referred by" form could be used to your advantage. Or maybe some written text that describes what you do not – or you do not serve to satisfy this requirement.

Provide / Establishing Credentials
Many companies service oriented and professional live or die based on their powers. Often, these credentials are long and complex and must be added or updated frequently. A website is the perfect place to expose (nauseaum ad if necessary) on your experience, training, affiliations, certifications, affiliations, the literature, samples, past projects, research, etc.

Educate
It may be a Information is your best bet for business success (at Back2Front we think so). Or perhaps you are an educator trade and provide free some is your best way to sell more for a fee. Anyway, a Web-based education should grow over time, and could end up being a very large web site – so plan ahead. Consistency in style, naming and presentation, and a good system navigation will be needed to succeed in this type of website.

Satisfy Your Ego
I put on the list because its best recognize and establish priorities to pretend it does not exist. Let's face it, if you are the owner of the company, it is your baby and you're proud of it! Your company is a reflection of you and your website reflects your company. So of course you want it is impressive, magnificent, unique … as great as you are! OK, I feel better now? Any order of priority needs of your ego so appropriate to your objectives and others to ensure that your ego does not get in the way of the success of your website. For example: if the lead generation was your top priority – and then you decide not to include this stunning animation, flash intro page that prevents search engines from indexing your site correctly, no matter how much your ego he wanted.

There is usually more than one reason for having a website, and therefore the site web may have to satisfy more than one set of requirements. Identify the reasons and put in order of importance will help to establish priorities to resolve conflicts between requirements.

Know why you have a website in the first place will go a long way to help you decide what type Web site you need, or whether or not the website that you have is good for your business.
