I am a small business owner, so I do not need a website

[NOTE: This article was written in response to actual conversations between small business owners and our Web design and development company.]

Good morning. My name is Mr. Smallbiz owner, and I own a small business in a city Smallville USA. My shop has been in business for a number of years, at least since the 1990s. I was recently contacted by many representatives of web design and development companies, trying to sell me on all the reasons why I, the small business owner of a shop in my area, really need a website in that time the 21st century and how my small business can not survive much longer without a business website.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the top 10 reasons why I like a small business owner do not need a website for my small business. Here are my simple explanations why I feel the way I do.

1. First, I have a client base of solid customers / business relationships with.

I do not really need more work, hell, I can not even manage clients, no more and I do not want my business to grow in revenue more. My current customers provide me with all the work you need. They are not going anywhere.

Besides, my current clients never look at anyway my website, they know everything there is to know about me and my small business. All of them know that we are here in smallville town USA. I not need someone calls me because they saw my website online. I do not have enough residual income for my family at least one year of good.

2. A small company will never be challenged by other competitors in my town of Smallville.

My small business is unique and individual else is doing the same thing in this industry, just as I do. Because a small company has been in this area for many years, we are recognized as experts in our field and will always be known as experts in the industry. We do not need to learn anything new in our industry because our industry rarely change at all. Our customers will never go elsewhere for other small companies like us, they will keep going at us for their needs in this town of Smallville.

3. Word of mouth and referrals have always worked the best me.

Our customers constantly refer their friends, relatives and colleagues to us, and potential customers who do not even call me bother to ask if I have a website. In general, they ask me to mail a brochure and a business card instead.

4. I am always active today, although I do not have a website.

I am very confident I will continue to be in business for many years to come. No other competitor moves in or near me, and my closest competitors are too far for my clients to drive, so they prefer come shop with me, Mr. SmallBiz owner, a small business. My current customers still continue to shop at my small business only, and will never go away, do not age and will never be without the need for my products or services.

5. I belong to several local professionals and networking organizations.

I am a member of my local Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau and other networking groups business. All the organizations I belong to give me enough leads on a daily or weekly basis, even if I have to pay an annual fee to stay member of these groups. As a result of these memberships and affiliations, I will never need a website design company. These organizations, even helping me find new potential partnerships and professional alignments on a continual basis.

6. Most intelligent people never looks older anyway websites.

They are too busy and not interested in the content and images available on my website. They are not just curious and the majority of people in the United States do not have computers in their homes or offices to watch a small online business. They prefer to spend time busy lives to jump into a car, weaving in and out of heavy traffic trying to find my small business in the City Smallville, look through the hundreds of similar products in my store, stand in our time lines for cash purchases of these products with their screaming children their sides and return to their cars to head back home on too loud. What if I do not have what they need? Oh well. Let them simply return to their car and spend more time driving in search of what happened elsewhere in the town of Smallville. I do not care about their business.

7. I I have a brochure developed 5 years ago.

I have many other brochures left on my shelf from a small business, and it is still relatively current. To save money on my own advertising and marketing costs, I will first Use these brochures on my existing clients when they come into my store. When I finally ran out of brochures, I can still use my printer to print our weekly specials in black ink and white, my clients do not care about the presentation of my marketing materials anyway. Why would they care I present the website is?

8. Web design and development is just another way companies try to recover your hard won.

Web design firms and development does not care about me, Mr. SmallBiz Owner or my small business in the town of Smallville. They just trying to sell me a website by pressing on false information about my local competitors and my industry, and using scare tactics to sell me in the whole concept website design. They keep trying to tell me what my prospects and customers need and expect from me and a small business. I just laugh and laugh the whole. To think they know more about my clients that I do is absolutely absurd!

9. I am very visible in my local target market.

Everyone with whom I want to do business knows about me and a small company located in the town of Smallville USA. They can easily find me in any of the millions of local Yellow Pages I pay a monthly fee for, because everybody who is everybody looks only for products and services in their local yellow pages. It is the latest play and the marketing and advertising ever created. It has a very high performance level on investment, it is very affordable and I can easily track which I found in the yellow pages.

10. Finally, Web sites are strictly for large companies that provide services and products to the United States or worldwide.

I have only one store small business in the town of Smallville in America and, consequently, a website has too broad a scope. Besides, why would I have to attract potential customers across the United States? Local customers that I have no doubt give me more than enough income to feed my family for many years to come. If I ever decide to market potential customers across America, I can always pay for classified ads in newspapers in 50 states. Because I never surf Internet, I am very confident that my customers are not either. The Internet is composed entirely of children and adolescents, and they are not my target market for my small business.
